I have to confess- I have been hooked on granola for a while. I just love having it for breakfast with milk or with yoghurt and fruit. Or just for a snack or as a frozen yoghurt topping granola is really crunchy and delicious. Now you can also make it yourself which definitely tastes less sweet and therefor is healthier than store-bought ones. This recipe is plain, so you can add nuts or/and dried fruit if you prefer…
Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp fine sea salt
- 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
Preheat oven to 160°C. Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Set aside.
In a large bowl, whisk together maple syrup, vegetable oil, brown sugar, and salt. Fold in rolled oats (if using nuts and dried fruit). Spread mixture evenly across your prepared baking sheet and flatten using a spatula. Bake for 40-45 minutes until mixture is golden brown. Let granola cool out and break into bite size pieces. You can store your granola at room temperature in an airtight container.
Enjoy,

Nice simple recipe. Can we sub the maple syrup with honey?
Of course. (: You can also use coconut oil or other oils if you´d like to.

Lovely! Have you tried granola with buttermilk? For me it’s the best combo!
