Peanut butter cups

DSC_0153You know Reese´s peanut butter cups? They´re one of my favorite chocolates from the US and unfortunately they don´t really sell them at normal grocery stores in Austria. But if you have enough time to search for the right shops, you will also find them. In Vienna I already found a couple of shops like Meinl, Bottelinis or Boobys Foodstore which carry Reese´s and many other chocolates from the US. Anyhow I decided to make them from scratch and surprisingly they turned out tasting exactly like the original ones. They are really easy to make and definitely worth trying to make them from scratch.

You will need…

  • 113g dark chocolate chips
  • 67g creamy peanut butter, divided
  • 10g teaspoons confectioners’ sugar
  • 5 teaspoon unsalted butter, softened
  • pinch of salt
  • silikon or paper cups

Combine half of the peanut butter, salt, butter, and confectioners’ sugar. And mix until homogeneous. And soften it in a bowl over boiling water. Add peanut butter in the chocolate and melt in the microwave oven or oven. Stir until smooth.

Drop a teaspoonful of chocolate mixture in each silicon/paper cup.
Then drop a teaspoonful of peanut butter over the top of the chocolate layer. Let cool for 10 minutes in the refrigerator.
And finally top with teaspoonful of chocolate mixture. Let completely cool in the refrigerator. Remove silicon cups and serve (or serve with paper cups). You can store them in a cookie box in the fridge or at a cool place.

Enjoy,
