Apple vanilla cream tarte


This is a really good twist to a normal apple pie almost everybody knows. It´s a pie filled with vanilla cream and topped with apples, raisins and almond slices. Thank´s to my cousin Katharina who gave me this delicious recipe. And you guys have a great day.

This is what you will need for preparing the pie crust:

  • 250 g  flour
  • 100g powdered sugar
  • 100g butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbs. vanilla sugar
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • a pinch of salt

Put flour, salt, sugar  and butter on your working surface. Start kneading. Use your fingertips to rub the butter into the flour until no butter lumps remain. Add egg and keep kneading until dough is smooth. Roll out dough to fit in a pie mold. Lay dough into your tin and bake in oven (oven temperature 170°) for 15 minutes.

Meanwhile prepare the filling:

  • 3/4 kg of apples
  • 1 package of vanilla pudding powder
  • 1/4l apple juice
  • rum, sugar, 3 tsp. raisins
  • 3 tbs. almond slices for topping

Let raisins soak in 3 tbs. of rum for about an hour. Peal apples, quarter and slice them. Combine one package of vanilla pudding powder with 5 tbs. of  apple juice. Combine the rest of the apple juice with 2 tbs. of sugar in a small sauce pan and heat. When it starts cooking, add the vanilla pudding powder mixture. Let cook for 2 minutes. Then add soaked raisins and sliced apples. Pour filling on baked pie dough and top with sliced almonds and bake in oven for about 30-45 minutes. Let cool out completely and serve.
